TITLE deeds held up by recent law changes will begin to be issued to foreigners from next week, it has been predicted.
Didim Title Deeds manager Hüseyin Akdi told Voices Newspaper that his officers would await a letter from the Land Registry confirming the law following disclosure in the Official Gazette.
Mr Akdi said: “Once we have the letter in ours hands confirming the law changes, then we will begin again to start issuing title deeds to foreigners.”
A temporary block on the issuing of title deeds was announced in March regarding changes to the law governing the law on the sales of real estate to foreigners.
A new bill has now been adopted by Parliament and this week confirmed in the Official Gazette. It enables foreigners and foreign companies to purchase real estate up to 10 percent of areas in the zoning plan.
The bill also authorizes the Council of Ministers to change the percentage (not more than 10 percent), taking into consideration the significance of towns in terms of infrastructure, economy, energy, environment, culture and agriculture.
