7th February, 2009

Turkey is to build a Disneyland resort in the Mugla Province near the town of Oren.

Disneyland Turkey will be larger than Eurodisney Paris. Construction will take 2 years. It will be built over an area of 1.3m square metres and will employ 17,000 staff.

According to the news, reported in Turkey’s Hurriyet daily, all the permission from 74 authorities has been granted and construction will commence after the proposal is signed by the Council of Ministers.

Project manager, Tekin Erdogan said “there will be 5 hotels of up to 7 stars with a total capacity of 8,000; a marina is also being built close to the resort. Ottoman and Selcuk architectural examples are projected to attract an estimated 12,000 visitors daily and eople will even be able to arrive at the Turkish Disneyland by boat via the marina.

Babakn Olcaysu, who is the license owner of the Oren Investment Concept said “The government has given its full support to the project. We got all the permissions in just 3 days. The project is expected to cost $3.2 billion. Babakn added:” This will attract tourists from all over the world, and will be of great benefit to all cities around it.

Turkey has been at the centre of the cultural world since before Christ's time. It was the centre of the Christian church under the Roman Emperor Constantine and is still a melting pot of all the world's cultures.

Dalaman is a district central town of the Mugla Province situated on the southwestern coast of Turkey. The Dalaman International Airport is a gateway for tourists visiting this part of Turkey every year, serving, particularly, seaside resorts to the west and east of Dalaman such as Marmaris, Fethiye, Köycegiz, Dalyan, Ölüdeniz and Hisarönü.
